Es sind dies insbesondere: a) Information, psychosoziale Beratung und Betreuung sowie Vernetzung der von ALS Betroffenen; b) Interessenvertretung; c) Unterstützung bei Pflege und Betreuung: Entlastung, Hilfsmittelbeschaffung; d) Unterstützung in rechtlichen, behördlichen und administrativen Belangen; e) Weiterbildung sowie Beratung von Fachpersonen, Multiplikatoren und Akteurinnen/Akteuren im Gesundheitswesen; f) Zusammenarbeit mit Fachstellen und Organisationen im Gesundheits- und Sozialbereich; g) Aufklärung der Bevölkerung über ALS und korrespondierende Probleme sowie h) Internationale Zusammenarbeit mit Organisationen, die ähnliche Ziele verfolgen.
