  • Der Verein Baobab Books fördert die Darstellung kultureller Vielfalt in der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur. Durch eigene Publikationen, Fachbeiträge und Entwicklungs- sowie Bildungsprojekte regt der Verein zum interkulturellen Dialog und zur Reflexion über das kulturelle Selbstverständnis, über Vorurteile und Ausgrenzungen an. Im Zentrum der Arbeit steht das Medium Buch in seinen verschiedenen Erscheinungsformen. Die Aktivitäten des Vereins erstrecken sich über die gesamte Schweiz sowie die darüber hinausreichenden deutschen und französischen Sprachräume und fördern den fachlichen Austausch zwischen den Sprachregionen; einbezogen werden dabei auch Sprachen von Migrantinnen und Migranten, die keine Landessprache sind. Im Zusammenhang mit seine Kerntätigkeit ist Baobab Books punktuelle international tätig. Der Verein Baobab Books steht für eine offen Gesellschaft, für eine respektvolle Haltung gegenüber Menschen anderer Herkunft und für Chancengleichheit sowohl in der lokalen wie globalen Gesellschaft ein.
