Massenentlassung droht – Traditionsfirma Flawa steht vor dem Aus

Weil ein grosser Auftrag verloren geht, steht die St. Galler Medizinaltechnikfirma Flawa kurz davor, 56 der aktuell 67 Mitarbeitenden zu künden.
Am Montagnachmittag informierte die St. Galler Firma Flawa ihre Angestellten darüber, wie es um die Traditionsfirma steht. Dabei sah die Zukunft der Firma alles andere als rosig aus. Sie stehe kurz vor dem Aus – eine Massenentlassung sei kaum mehr abzuwenden.
«Eine sorgfältige und noch andauernde Prüfung der zukünftigen wirtschaftlichen Situation hat gezeigt, dass eine Neuausrichtung nicht mehr ausgeschlossen werden kann, um die Flawa Consumer GmbH auch in Zukunft wirtschaftlich sinnvoll zu betreiben», teilte ein Sprecher gegenüber FM1Today mit. Bei einer Neuausrichtung könnten bis zu 56 der aktuell 67 Mitarbeitenden in Flawil von einem Stellenabbau betroffen sein.
Mehr als Hälfte des Umsatzes bricht weg
Grund dafür sei, dass die ehemalige amerikanische Muttergesellschaft der Flawa, die Firma U.S. Cotton LLC, künftig keine Watteprodukte von der Schweizer Firma mehr beziehen wird. Dadurch bricht die Hälfte des Umsatzes der Flawa weg und der Verlust könne in naher Zukunft nicht durch neue Aufträge kompensiert werden, wie die Firma mitteilt.
Die Geschäftsleitung habe ein Konsultationsverfahren eingeleitet. Bis zum 10. Juli werden noch Ideen gesammelt, um Kündigungen zu vermeiden oder ihre Auswirkungen zu mildern. Frühestens ab Mitte Juli seien dann Entscheidungen zu erwarten, so ein Sprecher gegenüber FM1Today.
