  • Die Genossenschaft macht es sich zur Aufgabe, eine oder mehrere Buchhandlungen zu führen. Sie bezweckt die Verbreitung guter Literatur. Durch entsprechende Gestaltung des Sortiments sowie durch spezielle Aktionen und Informationen sollen zudem auch ausgewählte bildungs- und gesellschaftspolitische Bücher und insbesondere wertebildende Jugendbücher einem breiten Publikum zugänglich gemacht werden. Im gleichen Sinne gilt die Übernahme des Verlegerrisikos bei Büchern, welche den Genossenschaftern als im Rahmen des Gesellschaftszweckes förderungswürdig scheinen. Die Genossenschaft fördert ferner beachtenswerte Autoren und weckt das Verständnis für andere Kulturen durch die Organisation von Lesungen und Vorträgen. Für Genossenschafter sind spezielle Dienstleistungen wie Büchersuche, Hauslieferdienst, Lesungen unentgeltlich, zusätzlich können sie Bücher günstiger beziehen. Die Genossenschaft versteht sich als partei- und institutionsunabhängig.
